Drinks at Pulse with TiE Charter Members and the Consul General of India

Wednesday 24 June 2009

Networking and Barbeque at the Ark Group with 20 TIE Charter Members.

TiE’s mission is to help entrepreneurs succeed through mentoring, networking and education, with 53 Chapters around the world.
As a Charter Member, BSI, Ark and Pulse Property were delighted to host the 20 TiE Charter Members for Drinks with Consul General of India, Mr.Amit Dasgupta & visiting Trustee of TiE Global Board & President of TiE Chennai, India: Mr. Ramaraj. Mr Ramaraj is also a senior advisor to Sequoia Capital in India.

The Consul General spoke of the current issues of the Student Bashings and the potential harm that these incidents have caused. It was acknowledged that these were isolated and in most cases not racially motivated attacks. All parties on both sides of the Globe are distressed about this situation and are keen to focus the energy on the positives… .being close collaboration between India and Australia for the betterment of both societies.

The Potential of Trade between India and Australia is enormous, and this is where all parties and Governments should be and want to focus on. There is currently $14b of trade between the 2 countries, and this, says the Consul General, is the tip of the Iceberg. India is looking to have a growth rate of between 6-8% in the current financial year and this is expected to be maintained for the foreseeable future.

The Consul General said that it was up to us, The Entrepreneurs and SMEs to network and work with each other to cross promote goods and services, and that this will flow through to the entire economy.

It all starts with one step.

Great evening and I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction. Wish I were better looking though: would have improved the quality of fotos! Sigh!
